There’s nothing like a staycation that relics an actual vacation. Fairmont Fujairah is one such property that makes UAE feels like Positano. The adventure starts right from the drive from Dubai to Dibba (a corner of Fujairah and even further drive). Passing through deserts whose color change (all Emirates have different colors of the sand), to bare mountains with exhilarating views, to villages that crop up in the middle of nowhere, to springs of Masafi that warrant a detour, to markets on highway selling carpets, wares and seasonal fruits – there is never a boring moment en route. The real excitement is to see the sea as you approach Fujairah…sprawling expanse of blue on one side of the curvy road.

Fairmont Fujairah happens to be on the start of the scenic sea drive, with a small fruit & carpet market on the road make a landmark to take left onto the hotel’s inner road. A grand welcome awaits with a huge gate at the entrance. The hotel reception is expansive, with many sitting areas bedecked with sofas and tables. Some of them extend onto rooms as well, with art pieces, mirrors and knick-knacks for perfect Insta props.

The towering fort like building in its beige glory stands complete contrast to the deep blue ocean. The sea facing rooms open to a large balcony with vistas of Arabian Sea. This is an ideal location that provides the full expanse view of the sea as far as you could see. Somewhat like Positano with the same deep blue waters, clean skies, and white sand.

The rooms are large & airy, with en-suite restroom that is further segmented into bathing tub, shower, shower room and washroom. A nespresso machine ensures you’re always awake to savour the beautiful views. A writing desk inspires to write or work, with a beautiful cabinet that opens upward to store your belongings. A lounge chair is a comfy nook to relax and take in the views from the room, while a small dining table is good enough to relish the in-room dining.

At the ground level is a swimming pool and a poolside bar. This area is the highlight of the hotel with a lot of sitting areas and canopies, along with a sunset deck and the lovely view of the sea. There is another swimming pool further up, perfect for families. The way to that swimming pool is lined by trees, lending a feel of Positano.

Lower ground is a common area that features their restaurants and a garden with fountains. It reaches the beach area with a track to walk along the water. This small stretch of asphalt reaches the helipad amid water. The adjacent buildings have a small marina as berthing space for yachts, where the guests are allowed to visit and take in the Milan-esque vibes. One may walk to the other side and enjoy the beach activities.

Fairmont Fujairah might not be the best in luxury, amenities and facilities as compared to other Fairmonts, yet the location of this hotel makes up for the few shortcomings.
